Worship of Allaah
Tawheed Al-Uloohiyyah

Back To Full Monotheism Tawhid Tawheed Tauheed

And Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah is to single-out God alone for all worship and not to worship anything along with Him, whether it be an angel, a Messenger, a prophet, a pious person, a tree, a stone, the sun, the moon, or other than these.This Tawheed Al-Uloohiyyah Worship of Allaah is regarding actions of the worshippers such as Du'aa (supplication), Nadhr (making vows), Nahr (Sacrifice), Rajaa (hope), Khawf (fear), Tawakkul (dependance), Raghbah (fervent desire), Rahbah (awe), and Inaabah (turning in repentance).

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): f

{
And I (Allâh) created not the Jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures). Verily, Allâh is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.}
[Quraan 51:56-58].

Allah also created the Angels for the same purpose, i.e. to worship Him and obey His orders, Allah Says (interpretation of meaning):

{
To Him belongs whosoever is in the heavens and on earth. And those who are near Him (i.e. the angels) are not too proud to worship Him, nor are they weary (of His worship). They (i.e. the angels) glorify His Praises night and day, (and) they never slacken (to do so).}

[Quraan 21:19-20].

Allah further Says in describing Angels (interpretation of meaning):

{…
are but honoured slaves. They speak not until He has spoken, and they act on His Command.
}

[Quraan 21:26-27].

“Supplicate to Me.  I will respond to your (supplication).  Verily, those who are arrogant scorning my worship they will surely enter hell in humiliation."

[Quraan 40:60]

All of these different types of worship have a proof from the Quraan.  The foundation of worship is to single out Ikhlaas (sincerity) for Allaah's sake and to single out Mutaaba'ah (following) for the Messenger (Peace be upon him).

Regarding Ikhlaas (sincerity) Allaah says interpretation of meaning:

"And the Mosques are for Allaah (alone) so do not invoke anyone along with Allaah."

Quraan 72:18

"And we did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) but We revealed to him (saying), None has the right to be worshipped in truth but I so worship Me (alone and no one else)."

Quraan 21:25

"Only the prayer to Him (Allaah alone) is the word of truth.  And whomever they invoke anwser them no more than one who stretches forth his hands outstretched towards water that it may come into his mouth, and it will never come; and every invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but misguidance and error."

Quraan 13:14

"This is because only Allah is the Truth, and all that they worship besides Him are falsehood, and because only Allah is the Supreme, the Great."

Quraan 31:30

And Allaah says referring to (Mutaaba'ah)

"The booty which Allah gave to His Noble Messenger from the people of the townships, is for Allah and His Noble Messenger, and for the relatives, and the orphans, and the needy and the travellers – so that it does not become the wealth of the rich among you; and accept whatever the Noble Messenger gives you; and refrain from whatever he forbids you; and fear Allah; indeed Allah’s punishment is severe."

Quraan 59:7

“O mankind! If you love Allah, follow me - Allah will love you and forgive you your sins”; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Quraan 3:31
